Celebrate Native American Heritage Month at Philbrook Museum with a special 50th Anniversary screening of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest on Friday, November 14. This iconic film, beloved by generations, takes on new resonance as we honor the legacy of Will Sampson (Muskogee Nation), whose powerful portrayal of Chief Bromden captivated audiences worldwide. Join us for an evening that transcends a simple screening, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the film’s cultural impact and its connection to Native American storytelling.

The program will begin with an introduction by Tafv Sampson, Will Sampson’s granddaughter, who will share personal reflections and shed light on her grandfather’s profound contribution to the film. Following the screening, delve deeper into the themes and impact of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest during a moderated discussion led by acclaimed filmmaker Sterlin Harjo (Muskogee Nation).
