Children’s Day (Kodomo no Hi)

Kodomo no Hi, or Children’s Day, is celebrated every May in Japan to honor the joy, individuality, and bright futures of children. Join us in celebrating your child with inspired art projects and fun activities!

In the Museum
  • Drop by Studio C to make origami creations with the Japanese Friendship Club
  • Visit the Helmrich gallery to see SAMURAI: Armor from the Collection of Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller
  • Relax and play in the Guest Lounge
  • $$$ Pick up lunch from Chimera Cafe in the upstairs lobby
In the Gardens
  • 9:30am – 12pm: Visit the Tulsa City Country Library Bookmobile
  • 10am: Feed the koi fish at the pool
  • 10:30am: performance by Owasso Public Schools Ohutsuji Daiko
  • 1pm: Performance by kids from Hot Toast Music’s Songwriting Program
  • Make a koinobori koi flag and sketch at the pool!
  • Visit with community partners from the Asian Affairs Commission of the City of Tulsa and APIDA Tulsa (Asian Pacific Islander Desi-American)
