Join us in an afternoon of art and poetry with visual artist Joel Daniel Phillips and poets Quraysh Ali Lansana, Jaki Shelton Green and Randall Horton as we celebrate the collaborative project Killing the Negative.
During the program, the poets will perform their powerful ekphrastic works, giving voice to subjects of Depression-era photographs. Together, the poets and artist will discuss the project and the questions it raises of power, representation, and America’s narratives.
Come early at 1:30pm for the book signing and stay after to experience the artwork in the gallery.
