Oklahoma Expressions

This exhibition presented a retrospective look at one of the most important chapters in Oklahoma art. From 1940-1976, Philbrook hosted The Oklahoma Artists’ Annual Exhibition (informally known as the “Oklahoma Annual”), a juried competition featuring work by dozens of Oklahoma artists. With a wide range of styles, subjects, and points of view, this exhibition highlights the best of the best. Works in Oklahoma Expressions included those of such artists as Doel Reed, Alexandre Hogue, and J. Jay McVicker, plus several other important and influential Oklahoma artists.
