Richard Barlow: The Sea of Ice, Receding

Acclaimed artist Richard Barlow creates monumental, temporary, and site-specific drawings of the natural world with chalk on blackboard paint. His drawings are erased at the end of each show.
Barlow’s work is shown nationally, most recently in a solo exhibition at the Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, Washington. In recent years his work has been featured in exhibitions at the Elmhurst Museum, the Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute, the Albany Institute of History and Art, the Weisman Museum, and the Wassaic Project. In 2017, Barlow was awarded the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Drawing. In 2016 he was one of 26 artists involved in the Arctic Circle residency, where he spent a month on a sailing ship in the Arctic Ocean. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Hartwick College, in Oneonta, New York.
