Join us for the kickoff to Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists. Be one of the first to view the exhibition inside, which features the work of over 100 artists selected in close cooperation with top Native women artists and scholars. Outside in the Gardens, view Maria, a work on view by artist Rose B. Simpson (Santa Clara Pueblo). Maria is a rebuilt 1985 Chevy El Camino named after artist Maria Martinez (San Ildefonso Pueblo) and painted in the traditional black on black pottery style. While you’re here, catch the premiere of the short film “Maria” by filmmaker Razelle Benally (Diné-Navajo). A new interview with the filmmaker and artist will be shown at the conclusion of the screening. As you enjoy the outdoors, listen to the music of Kalyn Fay (Cherokee Nation) who will perform from the Museum’s terrace.
