Philbrook invites families to join artist Sharon Louden for a special afternoon of creativity. During this workshop, children and their caregivers will have the opportunity to create a glow-in-the-dark city that will be on display during Philbrook’s 2019 Festival.
“Glowtown is an art-making workshop that develops individual creativity and teamwork within a community-building environment. By using everyday, simple, cast-away materials, along with the magic of glow-in-the-dark paint, participants come together to invent a fantastical world that never existed before, both during the day and at night!”

About the Artist
Multimedia artist Sharon Louden creates site-specific installations fostering interaction between the art, the space, and the viewer. Her work, which she describes as “drawing in space,” consists of warped, crumpled, highly polished aluminum suspended in space. The organic and dynamic shapes reflect light, visitors, and the surrounding architecture, breaking down barriers between the art object, its environment, and those inhabiting the museum. Her work is currently on display at Philbrook in the Zink Rotunda.
