About the Teaching Artist: Tina Henley

Hello! My name is Tina Henley and I’m an artist here in Tulsa, OK! I’ve basically lived in Tulsa my whole life and I’ve grown to enjoy and appreciate this city and the opportunities it offers artists and creatives. I began drawing in elementary school and I quickly discovered that I have my own artistic style. As I grew older, I took art classes and soon realized that I had a special connection with art and that I needed to cultivate my artistic pursuits. Realizing this and wanting to further my education, after graduating from High School, I began taking more art classes at Tulsa Community College and from there transferred to Oklahoma State University where I received my bachelor’s degree in Art. I’m still creating art to this day! Along with working a full-time job at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, I’m grateful that I get to do what inspires me. I love dynamic, bold patterns and colors. I often find myself wanting to customize and combine images and objects in unusual but visually unique ways. I’ll often try to add a three-dimensional element to my pieces. Almost like creating visual jewelry for a wall or space. Art to me is meant for exploring and discovering who you are, what you’re capable of and how you’re meant for more in life. I believe art is the pathway to our dreams.

What to Expect
A day at Camp Philbrook starts in our studios, but we quickly use the whole museum: art, gardens, etc. to explore what it means to be a creative thinker and maker. Our workshops are geared towards getting messy, working together and making space for every child’s ideas.

Here are a few things to know:

  1. We offer before and after care. See below for details
  2. All day campers may elect to bring their own lunch or purchase one from our onsite restaurant, Kitchen 27.
  3. We have a morning snack and afternoon snack built into each camp sessions.
  4. We use the whole museum, which means we spend ample time outside when the weather permits. Please pack a water bottle daily and arrive wearing sunscreen and bug spray.
  5. Your days at Philbrook will be filled with creative energy and fun! Please make sure to dress for mess and outdoor exploration.

Before & After-Care
Before & After Care is offered for each week of Art Camp for an additional $30 per child for Before Care, $30 per child for After Care, or $60 per child for Before & After Care. With the addition of Before & After Care to your ticket, you may drop your child off as early as 7:45am, and pick your child up at the end of the day between 4:00pm and 5:30pm.
