Russell Lee worked as part of the government-sponsored Farm Security Administration beginning in 1936, documenting the social and economic hardships faced by millions of rural Americans during periods of drought and Depression. This exhibition, drawn from Philbrook’s collection, features Lee’s Oklahoma-based photographs from 1939-1940.
