Modern and Contemporary Art

Since 1991, Philbrook has carried out an active program to create a dynamic collection of contemporary art. Among the artists represented in the collection are John Baeder, Carolyn Brady, Rackstraw Downes, Janet Fish, Scott Fraser, David Ligare, Joseph Raffael, Tom Uttech, James Valerio, Paul Wonner (paintings) and Stephen deStaebler, Richard DeVore, Marilyn Levine, Michael Lucero, Joyce Scott, Richard Shaw, Charles Simonds, and James Surls (contemporary craft.) In recent years, the collection has expanded to include a wider range of experimental media and themes, including works by Josiah McElheny and Tony Oursler, among others.
